Election of the Senate (term of office: October 2022-2025)
What is the Senate responsible for? What is its structure?
Among the tasks of the Senate (see § 25 Universities Act (UG)) are:
- issuing and amending the curricula for studies
- participation in habilitation and appointment procedures (passing resolutions on the appointment of commissions, whose appointments for mid-level faculty are made at the faculties)

- approval of the organizational plan https://www.uibk.ac.at/zentraler-rechtsdienst/organisationsrecht.html#op (and its amendments)
- enactment and amendment of parts of the statutes https://www.uibk.ac.at/senat/rechtliche-grundlagen/ on the proposal of the rectorate
- appointment of 3 (out of 7) members of the University Council (responsibility: currently Senate for the functional period 01.03.23 to 29.02.2028)
- preparation of a proposal for the election of a Rector (responsibility: current Senate for the term 01.03.23-28.02.27)
The Senate of the University of Innsbruck consists of 26 members:
- 13 professors
- 6 representatives of the so-called "Mittelbau” i.e. mid-level faculty
- 6 representatives of the students
- 1 representative of the general staff
